Zodiac Trip We had a great 3+ hours on the Prince of Whales zodiac tour in the early afternoon. The skipper was brilliant - friendly, knowledgeable & created a nice atmosphere. We were lucky enough to see transient orcas, residents and humpbacks - absolutely incredible and at times we didn’t know where to look as they were everywhere around us! Would recommend, and would happily use again.

Knowledgeable Naturalist We went out of Vancouver on a half day trip, poking into Howe Sound, the Strait of Georgia and the North Arm of the Fraser River. We tracked two orcas for a while, saw a breaching humpback whale mother and her calf, and some resting harbor seals. I wasn’t expecting to see much given how close we had to remain to the city on only a 3-5 hour trip, so was happy with what we did encounter. Plus being out on the water is a great way to experience another side of a new place. Our onboard naturalist Wilma was very knowledgeable and eager to share everything she knows with us. The captain Aaron was fully engaged with us as well, keeping us updated on our course, which he adjusted quickly with changing information coming in over his radio from other boats.

Just do it! We chose the "Zodiac" trip (high speed rib ride) - trip starts with a comprehensive induction and kit out with floatation suit/hat and gloves (it was a very warm day but when out there the suit is fine (I wore shorts and shirt with trainers which was ideal and also wore the hat- don't forget your shades and definitely put the sun screen on, lockers provided for personal items- take phone in plastic bag) - this is 3hour+ trip so prepare and you take drink/snacks with you on the boat if read. It is an exhilarating ride so older children/teenagers will love it. This is a great way to sight see as well as experiencing the wildlife, we saw Killer whales, seals and even a Humpback whale!!!
Our guide/Pilot "Jasper" was friendly and very knowledgeable - a real young gent and a pleasure to spend time with!

Exciting and Educational! This was one of our best days out in Victoria! We chose the morning whale watching trip and we were thoroughly treated to a few pods of whales feeding in the bay. Once we reached a point far from the shore, we started spotting whale activity and we were entertained for the next hour! Pods of whales were feeding, diving and surfacing in the general area so the captain was able to direct the catamaran as close as possible while still being safe for the whales, making sure we didn't disturb them during their feeding. This was mid-August, so it was the height of their feeding season. We were delighted! We also were treated to a view of loads of seals resting or playing on a nearby island. It was a magical day for all of our family and it was some of the best spent hours of our lives!

10/10 Experience with Scotty leading the way Made memories to last a lifetime with Scotty taking us around the northern gulf islands in search of wildlife. We saw bald eagles, Dall's porpoises, countless orcas, and several humpbacks. We were spoiled rotten with a combination of luck and Scotty's expertise. He was extremely knowledgeable of the animals as well as the area, and you could not find someone with more passion and pure joy in their line of work than Scotty.

This experience exceeded all my expectations, and I thoroughly recommend it to anyone wishing to see some of the beautiful sea life surrounding the northern part of the island.

    Thanks again Scotty!

Must do while in Victoria. We took the Zodiac out and while it was cold, the suits kept us adequately protected. I was never uncomfortable. The guide was knowledgeable and while I wish we would have spent more time watching the Orcas, the humpbacks were amazing. Just dozens or them coming up just yards away from our boat. Highly recommend

A beautiful experience! The boat ride alone was worth the trip in the midst of vast expanses of water and islands. We sighted 8 whales surfacing and deep diving. Wow! The guides were
knowledgeable and informative, always helpful and generous. It was a great experience all around. I will do it again!

Whale watching Right from the office visit everyone was wonderful. Orca sightings are never guaranteed but we had an amazing experience thanks to Skipper Scotty and Prince of Whales, as well as Telegraph Cove itself.

FAQS

Do tours run in all types of weather?

Tours operate rain or shine! Safety is our priority and, in extreme weather conditions or high winds, adventures may be cancelled at the discretion of our qualified crew. We will be in touch should this be the case.

Will we really see whales?

Yes! There is a high chance of seeing orcas, humpbacks, and other types of whale on your tour. Our year-round whale sighting success rate is ~95% (averaged across all of our adventures) with chances being even higher during summer months.

What happens if we don’t see a whale?

This adventure is covered by our year-round Year-Round Whale Sighting Guarantee. In the unlikely case, we do not see whales on this adventure, you can join us on another whale watching tour. This guarantee is valid for a lifetime!

When is the best time of day for watching whales?

There really is no better time of day for whale sightings, as the whales do not run on a schedule as we do! The whales are active throughout the day and their behaviour changes as groups encounter each other. If you are looking for the best scenic light for photography choose morning departure.

Are there bathrooms on the Catamarans?

Yes! The catamarans are equipped with two airline-style washrooms.

Do passengers often feel seasick?

No, our boats are custom-built for whale watching with passengers in mind. Captain and crew will also do their best to minimize the impact of the sea. However, if you are prone to seasickness, we recommend you purchase non-drowsy Gravol from a pharmacy prior to your adventure with us.

Are there snacks or beverages on board?

Complementary tea, coffee & hot chocolate will be available on board. Light snacks (chips, cookies, chocolate bars) can be purchased with CAD cash. You can also bring your own snacks.

Do I need to make a reservation?

Reservations are definitely recommended. Adventures often sell out and we don’t want you to be disappointed.
