Excellent whale watching experience Fantastic experience on a very large comfortable and well equipped vessel. The team on the boat were fantastic, knew their stuff and went above and beyond to engage and inform us. The company has a very good ‘no whales’ policy - you come back free! We did just see a pair of whales through a fog, but the captain invoked the no wales policy anyway.

There are lots of options for different cruise/fly options between Vancouver and Victoria. The experience was great value and we had a great time.

Breathtaking, unforgettable trip We took the zodiac trip, piloted by Scotty. Within a short time we had Dall’s porpoise hunting and playing next to the boat, soon followed by 2 humpbacks, then a raft of Stellar sea lions. Scotty gave a lot of thought as to where we should head to try and spot orcas and his plan paid off, with fantastic views of two pods of orcas including one whale that showed off leaping out of the water. Just as we thought that was the finale to the trip, Scotty received a message that a fin whale - not usually found in these waters - was nearby and after some patient waiting and tracking, we got to view this whale several times. Amazing. Scotty was a great skipper and has a wealth of knowledge about the wildlife. This was a trip of a lifetime and Prince of Whales a great company to have found. Thank you Scotty for delivering more than we could have hoped for! Thoroughly recommend this trip. I hope to return one day!

Knowledgeable Naturalist We went out of Vancouver on a half day trip, poking into Howe Sound, the Strait of Georgia and the North Arm of the Fraser River. We tracked two orcas for a while, saw a breaching humpback whale mother and her calf, and some resting harbor seals. I wasn’t expecting to see much given how close we had to remain to the city on only a 3-5 hour trip, so was happy with what we did encounter. Plus being out on the water is a great way to experience another side of a new place. Our onboard naturalist Wilma was very knowledgeable and eager to share everything she knows with us. The captain Aaron was fully engaged with us as well, keeping us updated on our course, which he adjusted quickly with changing information coming in over his radio from other boats.

Whale Watching without the Whales! Although the whales decided not to grace us with their presence the boat ride was fun!! My father, my husband and I enjoyed the zodiac ride trying to find them. Beautiful scenery! Jasper, our captain, was knowledgeable, and very friendly. The sea lions, seals and eagles were impressive ... especially the sea lions!

A childhood dream came true We decided to go on a whale watching tour twice and both times were so amazing. Best 140 dollars we spent so far on our canada trip! Both times we saw orcas and humpback whales, sea lions and other marine life. The crew scotty and alan knew very much about the different whales and shared their knowledge with us. Scotty also put a hydrophone in the water so we heard the orcas communicating with each other, which was amazing. He was respectful and always kept a good distance with the boat so that the whales didn‘t get stressed out. Thanks a lot we definitely would come back :)

Fantastic experience. Totally enjoyed this tour. We were so lucky with our sightings. It was a beautiful day and we saw bald eagles, seals and several hump backs and some orcas. Even after we had seen some whales, the crew kept looking for more. The boat was not too big so everyone seemed to get to see the whales. It was quite cold on the top deck so hats, scarves and a warm coat are recommended. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. If you don't see any whales, I believe you can have another tour free of charge. Having previously done a disappointing whale watching trip in Quebec, I was a bit wary of booking another. I needn't have worried!

Wonderful! One of the highlights of our trip! They have a 100% whale sighting guarantee which is nice, but the 1/2 day trip is lovely in itself. Of course, the absolute highlight was seeing a whole pod of Orcas (though they didn't breach)! They are amazing. Lovely company to book your trip with, as well--staff are very friendly and helpful and the price is reasonable

FAQS

Do tours run in all types of weather?

Tours operate rain or shine! Safety is our priority and, in extreme weather conditions or high winds, adventures may be cancelled at the discretion of our qualified crew. We will be in touch should this be the case.

Will we really see whales?

Yes! There is a high chance of seeing orcas, humpbacks, and other types of whale on your tour. Our year-round whale sighting success rate is ~95% (averaged across all of our adventures) with chances being even higher during summer months.

What happens if we don’t see a whale?

This adventure is covered by our year-round Year-Round Whale Sighting Guarantee. In the unlikely case, we do not see whales on this adventure, you can join us on another whale watching tour. This guarantee is valid for a lifetime!

When is the best time of day for watching whales?

There really is no better time of day for whale sightings, as the whales do not run on a schedule as we do! The whales are active throughout the day and their behaviour changes as groups encounter each other. If you are looking for the best scenic light for photography choose morning departure.

Are there bathrooms on the Catamarans?

Yes! The catamarans are equipped with two airline-style washrooms.

Do passengers often feel seasick?

No, our boats are custom-built for whale watching with passengers in mind. Captain and crew will also do their best to minimize the impact of the sea. However, if you are prone to seasickness, we recommend you purchase non-drowsy Gravol from a pharmacy prior to your adventure with us.

Are there snacks or beverages on board?

Complementary tea, coffee & hot chocolate will be available on board. Light snacks (chips, cookies, chocolate bars) can be purchased with CAD cash. You can also bring your own snacks.

Do I need to make a reservation?

Reservations are definitely recommended. Adventures often sell out and we don’t want you to be disappointed.
