Do tours run in all types of weather?

Tours operate rain or shine! Safety is our priority and, in extreme weather conditions or high winds, adventures may be cancelled at the discretion of our qualified crew. We will be in touch should this be the case.

Will we really see whales?

Yes! There is a high chance of seeing orcas, humpbacks, and other types of whale on your tour. Our year-round whale sighting success rate is ~95% (averaged across all of our adventures) with chances being even higher during summer months.

What happens if we don’t see a whale?

This adventure is covered by our year-round Year-Round Whale Sighting Guarantee. In the unlikely case, we do not see whales on this adventure, you can join us on another whale watching tour. This guarantee is valid for a lifetime!

Are there bathrooms on the boat?

The boat we use for this tour is equipped with two airline-style washrooms.

Do passengers often feel seasick?

No, our boats are custom-built for whale watching with passengers in mind. Captain and crew will also do their best to minimize the impact of the sea. However, if you are prone to seasickness, we recommend you purchase non-drowsy Gravol from a pharmacy prior to your adventure with us.

Are there snacks or beverages on board?

Complementary tea, coffee & hot chocolate will be available on board. Light snacks (chips, cookies, chocolate bars) can be purchased with CAD cash. You can also bring your own snacks.

Do I need to make a reservation?

Reservations are definitely recommended. Adventures often sell out and we don’t want you to be disappointed.

Vacation The staff are outstanding. We were fortunate to see 5 humpback whales on the trip. They even stopped to view whales on the return trip which wasn’t part of the itinerary but was appreciated by all!

Great Whale Watching Trip, Super-friendly Crew! Starting from beautiful Telegraph Cove, I participated in a whale watching tour. We took our boat through the areas where they expected to find certain whales. We got lucky to get approached by a few Doll's Purpose. Later, we saw a few humpback whales and even a family of orcas! To finish it all off, we saw a sea otter swimming close by. It was such a great experience! Much more than I expected.

The crew was well informed and could always provide relevant information to what we saw out on the waters. It was pretty cool how the captain was able to spot and approach wildlife, just by sight, with minimum disturbance of the animals. Shoutout to Rebecca for answering all my questions, it was so interesting to learn so much about whales! Would do again if I had the chance too.

Incredible Experience! I took a friend visiting from Toronto out on a morning cruise to see the whales! We were lucky enough to be upstairs with Wilma who was fantastic. She was so knowledgeable and had a real passion for the whales. We saw 3 Humpbacks including a calf and 5 Orcas. It was incredible experience and I would definitely recommend using Prince of Whales! I hope to go again🐋

WOW! What a trip!!! This trip by far exceeded expectations with playful orcas, seals, bald eagles and a hump back whale and calf to top off the day. The narrative provided by the crew was both informative and educational. We did our research ahead of time and are so pleased that we chose Prince of Whales Tours. If you are ever in the area we highly recommend this tour. While part of what you see on any given day is luck, our crew was outstanding. Special thanks to Anthony and Sandy for sailing the ship and to James and Amy for their wealth of knowledge.

Still inspired I came solo a few months back but I promised myself I would write a review because I had a Fabulous Whale Watching Experience.
I was traveling solo and the staff who are very knowledgable we’re also very friendly and made sure everyone was feeling welcomed.
It really inspired me how much the staff care about the wild life. We saw a mom orca and baby also sea lions and seals!
I appreciated that the staff offered me blankets as it was very cold.

I would recommend this experience for sure!
Thank you Camille, James and Amy and keep up the good work!

Amazing adventure! An amazing adventure watching several whales breaching, which we understand is very unusual to see in Canada. We also enjoyed watching the seals basking in the sun and two Bald Eagles perched in their nests. The crew was great. The Captain and First Mate did a fabulous job finding the whales and Maya and Hannah were extremely knowledgeable and kind as was the rest of the crew. The bus driver to Butchart Gardens was funny and shared the history of the town and gardens making the ride interesting and enjoyable. We highly recommend Prince of Whales!

Must do while in Victoria. We took the Zodiac out and while it was cold, the suits kept us adequately protected. I was never uncomfortable. The guide was knowledgeable and while I wish we would have spent more time watching the Orcas, the humpbacks were amazing. Just dozens or them coming up just yards away from our boat. Highly recommend

Great experience! We had a great time on this tour! We saw different whales and other wildlife. Once a Humpback came up right next to our boat. Our naturalist Aurora did a great job in feeding us loads of animal facts and also keeping us well entertained. I can recomend this tour!

Wonderful experience I loved this trip, in fact I went twice. It was amazing! First trip on May 31, we saw a pod of killer whales, a humpback whale named Duvet, harbor seals and a bald eagle. Second trip I went alone, again saw the humpback whale named Duvet, this was on Monday, June 3. The captains Bill and Chris were very informative and I was able to watch how the boat was steered into the harbor. Fabulous. Also Lily, the naturalist and all of the crew on these days were great. I loved it and would recommend it to anyone. I tell everyone here at home about it and wear my hat I ordered. Thanks all of you.
