Experience

Experience the majesty of the Salish Sea and its wildlife, from whales surfacing in unison to bald eagles soaring overhead. Cut through the Strait of Juan de Fuca’s currents in search of orcas and humpback whales, and listen to our marine mammal experts bring the animals stories to life (while you stay warm, dry and hydrated in its heated cabin, of course!) The quintessential whale watching experience for every adventurer.

Did you know? Bald eagles mate for life, like wolves (we have those, too!)

What To Bring

It gets cold out on the water (trust us!), so we recommend windbreaker jackets, sweaters, long pants, and closed-toe shoes. It’s also a good idea to bring sunglasses, sunscreen, a tight-fitting hat, a camera to capture some memorable moments and, above all, your sense of adventure!

Onboard snacks are available for purchase with CAD cash only (no credit/debit cards accepted) but please feel free to bring your own snacks if you wish.

Off season zodiac boat... still saw a bunch of orcas! We went on an off-season day and still saw a bunch of transient orcas. The guide was informative and kept a respectful distance from the animals and it never felt like a “chase,” just passive observation, as it should be. We also saw harbor seals and pups, stellar sea lions and pups, a river otter, and various birds. The other two adults I was with agreed it was well worth the $86USD or whatever the full price was for an off season morning trip. It was plenty warm with the suits, gloves, and hats provided. Bring your own sunglasses and warm socks/shoes. Heads up- if you sit in the front row (especially with only a few people on the boat) you will need to hang on for dear life at times! Lots of fun!

Exciting and Educational! This was one of our best days out in Victoria! We chose the morning whale watching trip and we were thoroughly treated to a few pods of whales feeding in the bay. Once we reached a point far from the shore, we started spotting whale activity and we were entertained for the next hour! Pods of whales were feeding, diving and surfacing in the general area so the captain was able to direct the catamaran as close as possible while still being safe for the whales, making sure we didn't disturb them during their feeding. This was mid-August, so it was the height of their feeding season. We were delighted! We also were treated to a view of loads of seals resting or playing on a nearby island. It was a magical day for all of our family and it was some of the best spent hours of our lives!

Great time We had a beautiful ride over to the Vancouver Island vicinity and spent an hour watching a pod of killer whales. Could have watched them all day! Simply spectacular.

Half Day Whale Watching Went out on the Salish Sea today through Boundary Pass with Captain Joe, Lilli ana Valerie. We were blessed with T86As, T101s, and T124As hunting Sea Lions. T86A also had a calf approx 1yr old, and was outta control with excitement 😆 My partner happily took around 800 photos on her DSLR from a safe distance of 200+ meters away. Wished we could have taken more, but am beyond stoked with the ones we got. This is the only acceptable way to view sea life - in the wild where they belong.

Great tour on the sound Fantastic tour seeing Orcas and hump back whales. Lili was great and gave us a detailed commentary as we were on the sound looking at all wildlife. The boat was very comfortable and a cup of chocolate hit the spot to warm us up after being outside on deck

Prince of Whales- whale watching tour We had a great time out on the zodiac, the driver was very knowledgeable and we got to see all types of wildlife. We saw transient orca whales, seals, and bald eagles.

Fantastic experience. Totally enjoyed this tour. We were so lucky with our sightings. It was a beautiful day and we saw bald eagles, seals and several hump backs and some orcas. Even after we had seen some whales, the crew kept looking for more. The boat was not too big so everyone seemed to get to see the whales. It was quite cold on the top deck so hats, scarves and a warm coat are recommended. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. If you don't see any whales, I believe you can have another tour free of charge. Having previously done a disappointing whale watching trip in Quebec, I was a bit wary of booking another. I needn't have worried!

The perfect tour It was a really great tour on the sea. We saw a lot of different whales. For example Orca and humpback whales. Roman controlled the ship very well. It felt very safe and he took care of the whales. Sharon was with us on the upper deck and answered us. You noticed that she is very interested and also knows a lot about the different creatures on land and in the water. Scotty was also very nice and helpful. We were lucky to have seen whales. The tour was perfect.

Tours operate rain or shine! Safety is our priority and, in extreme weather conditions or high winds, adventures may be cancelled at the discretion of our qualified crew. We will be in touch should this be the case.

Will we really see whales?

Yes! There is a high chance of seeing orcas, humpbacks, and other types of whale on your tour. Our year-round whale sighting success rate is ~95% (averaged across all of our adventures) with chances being even higher during summer months.

Are there bathrooms on the boat?

The boat we use for this tour is equipped with two airline-style washrooms.

Do passengers often feel seasick?

No, our boats are custom-built for whale watching with passengers in mind. Captain and crew will also do their best to minimize the impact of the sea. However, if you are prone to seasickness, we recommend you purchase non-drowsy Gravol from a pharmacy prior to your adventure with us.

Are there snacks or beverages on board?

Complementary tea, coffee & hot chocolate will be available on board. Light snacks (chips, cookies, chocolate bars) can be purchased with CAD cash. You can also bring your own snacks.
